Pinar Çakir Pinar Çakir

Pinar was born in Çorlu in 1981. Çorlu is a small town in the European part of Turkey, close to Greece. When she was one year old her family moved to Istanbul where they still live.

Pinar attended primary school between 1987-1992, and high school between 1992-1999. To be accepted at university in Turkey, one has to pass a very difficult exam where only one out of three applicants is successful. Fortunately, she was accepted and joined the Bogaziçi University in Istanbul, which is considered the best university in Turkey in 1999 to study chemistry. In 2004, Pinar obtained her BSc degree in the Department of Chemistry at Bogaziçi University.

Between 2004-2006, she worked as an analytical chemist in a big pharmaceutical company: BILIM. However while working, she realised that she wanted to furhter her studies, and in 2005 she registered for the Master of Science program in Organic Chemistry at Bogaziçi University. In July 2008, she obtained her MSc degree in Chemistry Major.

Pinar is currently a PhD student and Marie-Curie early state researcher at the Bioengineering Department, University of Technology Compiègne, France, within the Marie-Curie Research Training Network NASCENT.

Apart from work, Pinar likes reading, playing flute, and paintings on wood and fabric.
